You deserve a birth that is supportive, affirming, and based on best-practices.
Doulas Make a Difference!
Research shows that doulas make a significant positive impact on birthing parents’ experiences, whether in the hospital or at home births, by reducing medical interventions and increasing feelings of support, advocacy and satisfaction for birthing people. Birthing is a sacred time, and many indigenous, Black and people of color communities have gained precious wisdom and best practices for how to support a birthing parent through this incredible transition. I honor all cultural, religious and ethnic background and traditions, and am glad to help you design a birth plan that centers what matters most to you.
My own doula practice is centered in the wisdom of Southern Black midwives and birthworkers, who were the most revered and trusted birth companions of their time. As a full-spectrum doula, I provide all of my clients with compassion, advocacy, education and support from the time we first meet until after your birth.
I provide advocacy, resources, birth plan assistance and educational support before birth, and I provide physical, emotional and advocacy support during birth. If necessary and desired, I support you in the hour after birthing and at a follow-up visit, and can provide additional support into the postpartum period.
Full-Spectrum Birth Doula
For birthing people up to 35 weeks pregnant
You will receive:
An initial 90 minute consultation to discuss your pregnancy, birth plan, and any questions you would like me to research
Monthly check-ins via Zoom, phone, or in-person to talk about birth plan, support, and questions as they come up
Unlimited email support during pregnancy and in the week afterwards
Full physical support for the duration of your birth, beginning in active labor (or hospital admission in the case of C-section), and ending one hour after the birth process is completed
A 60-minute in-person or online follow-up visit to check in after your birth, provide any additional resources you may want, and provide basic breast or chest feeding support, should you desire that
Short-Notice Birth Doula and Birth Plan Consultation
For birthing people within 5 weeks or less of due date
Sometimes doulas can be hard to come by on short notice. I offer a short-notice doula package to birthing people who need a doula on short notice. (Disclaimer: My offerings are limited by my existing schedule and my ability to provide you with quality doula services based on short notice)
You will receive:
An initial 90 minute consultation to discuss your pregnancy, birth plan, and any questions you would like me to research, time permitting
Full physical support for the duration of your birth, beginning in active labor (or hospital admission in the case of C-section), and ending one hour after the birth process is completed
A 60-minute in-person or online follow-up visit to check in after your birth, provide any additional resources you may want, and provide basic breast or chest feeding support, should you desire that
OR
A 90 minute consultation to discuss your birth plan in-depth
One editing session where you can make changes and additions
A completed birth plan to present to your medical providers and hospitals
Postpartum Doula
In addition to helping with actual births, I can assist with a wide range of activities and needs in the postpartum period, whether I attended your birth or not.
You will receive:
An initial visit to meet you, your little one, and any family or friends that are supporting you
Services for a specific number of hours, agreed upon in our contract. Possible services include: breast and chest feeding support, light cleaning, meal preparation, infant care (while you shower, nap, take a walk), transition planning, and postpartum mental health resources
Weekly email check-ins to discuss questions and provide resources that you might need
Book an Interview
The first step for all of my doula services is to book an introduction interview, where we discuss what you need, relevant dates, and where you have the chance to ask me questions. If we both agree that we are a good match, and I have the correct availability, we will move forward to sign an agreement and schedule our first 90-minute consultation.
All introduction interviews are free of charge. Deposits are due within 3 days of receiving our agreement, and full balances are due 2 weeks before due date or date of first postpartum service. For short-notice births and birth plans, funds are due at the time of our 90 minute consultation.
I do work with Medicaid and insurance billing, but am still working to become a licensed doula provider in Michigan. I will have more information soon!
